Within a stone’s throw of the pension is the famous monastery site of Parhali (Barhal) In fact all that survives of the monastery today is the church which you can see from the upper terrace, and two hermitage chapels built on the north facing slope of the valley opposite the pension. Walking

The scenery is spectacular and consists of steep-sided valleys covered with deciduous and coniferous vegetation. Water from rivers and springs is in abundance. Paths lead past large moraine rocks across timber bridges to small alpine villages and cold lakes.
